Starwood to open new London boutique hotel

London will soon have a new place to hold corporate events as a leading chain announces a new boutique hotel.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced its first British W boutique hotel will open its doors to the public in 2010.

There are currently 23 W properties Starwood operates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Its first European boutique was opened in Istanbul last year and the company has now planned to open the hotel in a mixed use development in Leicester Square.

The London W boutique will be followed by a further boutique in Manchester – also in two years.

In London, the new hotel will include 194 guest rooms, ten luxury residences, a spa, a gym and restaurant, website caterersearch.com reports.

Michael Wale, senior vice-president and director of operations for North-west Europe at Starwood, told the site: "As part of the W brand's global expansion, W London-Leicester Square will provide a unique alternative for our global guests while facilitating their discovery of one of the world’s most fashionable cities."
